The Perfect Housewife Bridal Shower

The bridal shower was on Saturday, and I must say, it was perfect! Everything turned out just as I envisioned and the bride to be was showered with lots of love (and great gifts, too)!

When you walked up to the front door you were greeted by my old trusty blue frame.  This literally has been one of the best purchases! I attached another vintage sheet to the back and then framed an Ann Taintor painting that was fitting for the occasion.

Right inside the front door we set up an ironing board with an old vintage tablecloth, bottled cokes, and a place to leave advice cards that were sent with the invitation.

The TV was covered with a vintage sheet (much like Campbell's party) and a simple bunting banner.  The mantel held a collection of mason jars.  I cut out some pictures and stuck them inside a few of the jars as well.

The table was filled with yummy foods and some fun decorations.

My tobacco basket held pictures, an apron, vintage ads from a magazine, and some old kitchen tools.

One of my favorite parts of the shower was the cupcake setup.  Warner and Campbell's play kitchen just so happened to be a retro version.  It provided the perfect display for the yummy cupcakes with the fun cupcake toppers.

The kitchen table held a colander of baby's breath and the chalkboard had the simple shower theme written on it.

The screened porch was were guests could help themselves to a beverage cart of water and sweet tea.  In mason jars of course!  And a few little extras were added to the table.

The bathroom was even vintage inspired!

As everyone was leaving they were sent home with a little "pie"!

I cannot tell you how much fun I had putting this shower together with my Mom.  I am looking forward to celebrating the bride become a MRS. in September!

A Bridal Shower in the Making: The Corsage

The bridal shower is tomorrow and since I didn't get a post out on Wednesday, I am skipping this week's "Friday Fête".

At most bridal showers the bride to be is given a corsage of some kind to wear.  I didn't want to have the normal flower corsage, so with my Mom's help, we came up with something fitting for "The Perfect Housewife".

Enter the vintage sheet.

You can find these sheets at pretty much any thrift store!  They range from full sets to just a pillow case, but when you're simply using it as a piece of fabric...it doesn't matter!

Since this is a vintage type shower and we are using some vintage sheets in the decor, I wanted to see if we could incorporate them into the corsage.

Lucky for me, I ran into this super simple tutorial!

Using my vintage sheet I followed the tutorial and had a corsage in less than 10 mins!

What do you think?!

Simply perfect!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

A Gymnastics Themed 3rd Birthday!

My friend, Gina's, little girl turned 3 over the weekend! When she asked me to help her plan a gymnastics themed birthday party, I was more than happy to help!

The party was held at the gym where Ryan and Warner both take gymnastics.
I wanted to brighten it up a bit, so we hung a blue plastic table cloth to add a little color to the wall.  On the tablecloth we simply attached "gymnastics rings" that I made using styrofoam rings and crepe paper.  Ryan's Mimi made her a letter out of buttons, so we added that to the tablecloth as well.

The front of the table had crepe paper streamers that I simply sewed together.
(If you follow me on Instagram then you saw that little project already!)

The main table held the cute cake and a few other fun foods for people to snack on.

Uneven Pretzel Bars

Stretch String Cheese

Powdered Donut Rings

Jumping Jelly Bean Pit

The favors were jump ropes tied with a tag that read, "Thanks for jumping over to my party! Love, Ryan"

Mimi had taken some pictures of Ryan during gymnastics one week and put them into some frames she decorated.  Pictures are such an easy way to add a little extra to any party!

It was a super cute party for a super cute THREE year old!
Happy Birthday, Ryan!

(Thanks for letting me help with your party!)

A Bridal Shower In the Making: Cupcake Toppers

I decided to make some fun cupcake toppers for the upcoming bridal shower my Mom and I are hosting.

I found some "vintage housewife" pictures by doing a Google image search.  I saved the images and sized them to 2 inch squares in a Word document (yes, it's that easy!).

After I cut them all out, I attached a lollipop stick to the back.  You can also use toothpicks.

Are these fun or what?

Surely, you noticed the book they are sitting on...
a little thrift find over the weekend! It was meant to be!
Getting exciting!!!

Father's Day Gift Idea

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day!  I'm sorry I couldn't share this idea sooner, but Dave reads the blog!  I didn't want to ruin his surprise...

I wanted to make something for Dave to put on his desk at work, so while he was at work I dressed up the boys in one of his shirts, a tie, and a pair of dress shoes.  My boys love  ADORE their Daddy.  What better idea than to have them dress like him?  With my camera I snapped some pics.

Does it get any cuter?!

I went with black and white for a "manly" feel, but you could keep the pictures in color.  I printed the pictures on photo paper and cut them out.  EASY!

I found this frame at Target and it worked perfectly.

I didn't want the frame to be boring so I thought about what I could do.  I remembered I had a bag of mini scrabble tiles.  Perfect!  I found the letters to spell out "Daddy".

I glued the tiles on to the frame with my hot glue gun.

Super easy.  Super special.

Bridal Shower in the Making

My good friend, Kelley, is getting married in September.  I couldn't be more excited for her!  In honor of her upcoming wedding I wanted to throw her a bridal shower (because we all know I love a party!).  My mom is co-hosting with me and we decided on a "Perfect Housewife" theme!  I thought it would be different and fun and I know Kelley is one who appreciates a good theme! :)

Here are the invites.

Shawnique Grant over at One Love Designs was awesome to work with.  She created a whole bundle for me that included the invite, RSVP card (more on that later), and an advice card.

I'm super excited and can't wait to see everything come together!

Friday Fête

I'm awful.  Please forgive me.  It has been almost 4 months since I posted my last "Friday Fête".
I am going to try to do better.

Let's get back to the party, shall we?!

Being a teacher, it was always hard to figure out what to do to celebrate those kids who had summer birthdays.  Usually I tried to set up a schedule towards the end of the year to allow them to have a chance to celebrate like every one else.  I taught Kindergarten, so it was a big deal for them.

If only I had done this when I was teaching...

How fun is that?!

Head on over to Over the Big Moon and check it out!

And remember...I want to feature YOU!! I want to see any party or party idea you have.  Birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, etc.  Anything party related!  Send me an email!

Chicken Wire Photo Holder

I love Instagram.
A lot.

Goodness, Campbell's 1st Birthday Party was pretty much centered around Instagram photos.

We had this large black frame hanging in the den with our initials in it.  As usual, I wanted a change.
I took out the initials, stapled some chicken wire to the back, and made a photo holder!

You could hang anything on this!  I have a jewelry holder version in my bedroom.

Currently I have only a few pictures hung that were left over from the birthday party, but have more on order!!

I can't wait to fill the frame with memories!
