The Dining Room

Finally, the dining room is pretty much finished! I say "pretty much" because there are days I think I might want to paint it again...a blue? a gray? Ahhhh!!! Sometimes I'm all over the place! I would definitely like a new light fixture at some point, but that will come in time.

So here you go...our dining room!

Framed Glitter Heart

I decided to fill in my blue frame and add some sparkle and love on the mantel.

Using some newspaper print wrapping paper left over from Warner's Little Man Party and some spray adhesive, I wrapped a piece of cardboard to fit the back of my frame.
(Hint: You could totally use real newspaper and I didn't have any cardboard so I used a shirt box leftover from Christmas)

Once I was finished wrapping my cardboard, I literally taped the cardboard to my frame with some clear duct tape.  Hey, no one sees the back...make it easy!

Using a piece of scrapbook paper I cut out a large heart.

For a little "something extra" I glued bakers twine around the edge of my heart.

Finally, I did just like you did when you were a kid and used glue and glitter to make my heart!
(the spray adhesive did the trick)

After it dried I attached it to my cardboard with a little hot glue and stuck it on my mantel.

Sparkly fun!

Friday Fête

It's hard to believe Valentine's Day is just around the corner!

I saw this super cute party and had to share!

Being the mama of 2 boys I got excited about this Superhero Valentine Party!

Take a look!  I think you will too!

Valentine's Day on the Door

I have been wanting to do something for Valentine's Day on my front door, but had no idea what.

A few years ago I made this easy burlap banner to fit in my blue frame.

Then I read Holly's post about her Valentine DIY and I knew what I wanted to do!
(Thanks for the inspiration, Holly!)

I don't know if you remember this door decor I made for Christmas awhile back, but I knew the embroidery hoop I used would be perfect for my Valentine's Day door!

To get started I removed the existing burlap that was in the hoop.  Then, I cut out a heart on a piece of paper.

Once again I turned to my pile of scrap fabric and decided to go with the leftover fabric from Warner's curtains.  I traced my heart pattern on to the back of my fabric and then cut it out.

With some spray adhesive I glued my heart to a clean piece of burlap.

I attached my fabric to the embroidery hoop and trimmed off the excess.

With a command hook I hung my new Valentine's "wreath" to my front door.

I love it!  And I must say this entire project took maybe 10 minutes...if that.
So easy and fun!

Scrap Fabric Heart Garland

After making the watercolor heart banner with Warner, I decided I wanted to add some more "love" in the house!

I have been eyeing the heart felt garland I've been seeing, but didn't have any felt sitting around. I do, however, have a ton of scrap fabric.

So I began cutting hearts out of my fabric.

And I simply sewed it together on my sewing machine!

You can't get much easier than that!
