I cannot tell you how excited I was to find out a few weeks ago that Kara had chosen to feature my Toy Story Party on her site!

I feel like I've hit "the big time"!
Only kidding, but I cannot begin to say what an honor this is!

Go and check it out!

A Little Change to the Kitchen

Back in July I posted this fabulous little piece of Kitchen Art I replicated.

Don't worry.  I still love it.  However, the "thanks" was a tad crooked and my anal retentiveness couldn't stand it.  So, it's getting a little makeover and being hung in a new location.  More on that later.

I needed something in its absence and I remembered this old chalkboard that was sitting in our attic space.  I bought it about a year and a half ago for $5.00 at the thrift store.  The man even threw in the chalk!  I thought I would use it one day in the playroom, but the size didn't work.  However, it fit perfectly on this wall.

I also remembered this awesome "chalkboard backpack station: that I had seen over at i should be mopping the floor.

DIY Chalkboard Frame and Backpack Station Tutorial

So with all the inspiration and it was time to make the change!

I loved that my chalkboard was a real old fashioned green chalkboard, but it didn't flow too well with my green walls, so I decided to put a coat of black chalkboard paint on it.

Once that was dry, I colored with chalk all over it, because I read somewhere to do that.  I can't remember off the top of my head, why, but I know it's something.  (something about when you erase it?)

I hung it (actually Dave did) and dug up some number hooks I bought at TJ Maxx years ago and was holding on to for the perfect project!

And there you have it!

A place to hang book bags and coats and to write quotes or reminders or menus or whatever!  The possibilities are endless!

(And I just copied Kristi's chalkboard art for now because it was way cute and I was way tired and didn't want to think of something on my own.  Just being honest.)

A Recipe Book

I was around 3 years old when my Nanny died.  She was my Mom's Mom and sadly I don't really remember much about her.

I knew she used to cook a lot.  Who didn't back then?   I had seen one or two of her handwritten recipes that my Mom has, but luckily my Aunt had one of her old recipe books.

It is filled with pages and pages of handwritten recipes and recipes my Nanny had cut out of newspapers.  So much history lies in this book.  Not to mention some recipes that sound really good!
(I've got to tell you, one called for 3 sticks of butter.  Yes, you read that correctly...3!)

I plan on using these recipes as Kitchen art, but not before I try a few of them out!

Friday Fête

Gender Reveal Parties have become the new craze.  They are a fun and unique way to reveal the sex of your child with family and friends.  Some people cut cakes, release balloons, and even pop confetti to reveal if it's a boy or a girl!

My good friends Clay and Steven hosted this "Preppy or Pearls" gender reveal party for Clay's little sister.

They started out with this invitation they created themselves.  I like the way it is super simple and the fonts reflect a girl or a boy.

After the invites were sent, the boys were hard at work with the big event!
Check out all the little details they did!

Using cupcake liners they created an easy centerpiece.

Isn't this cake pretty amazing?

I liked this touch of a board of possible names for the little boy or little girl.

It's a GIRL!

Thanks for letting me share your party, Clay & Steven!

Pumpkin Dip

I wish I could take credit for this recipe, but I can't.  I found it a few years back over at Carolina Charm's blog and have made it for the past two Halloweens we've celebrated with our friends.  It's super easy and super yummy!  I suggest you try it! :)

Campbell: 6 Month Well Check

Last week our sweet love turned six months old!

Height: 26 inches (24th percentile)
Weight: 16.3 lbs. (28th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.5 inches (83rd percentile)

Feeding: Campbell is still eating every 3-4 hours.  He takes about 6 oz, but doesn't always finish it.  It depends on the feeding.  Campbell is eating fruits and veggies.  He, of course, doesn't love the veggies.  He will tolerate sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash, but certainly would prefer to not have them at all.  He loves pretty much every fruit we've tried!  He does not like rice cereal or oatmeal unless you mix it up with something.  Go figure!

Sleeping: Recently Campbell has been getting up 3 to 4 times a night.  It started last week and we discovered our first ear infection.  Since then he is still doing it.  We still have him in the Woombie and it's like he can't get comfortable, but doesn't know what to do with his hands when he's out of it.  I need to begin the transition out of it, but I have a feeling it's not going to be as easy for him as it was for Warner.  Also, I know the poor guy is trying really hard to pop some teeth and I know that isn't helping either.  All I know is that we were super spoiled with his sleeping until last week.  I pray this is a combo of the ear and teeth and that it will pass soon...

"Issues": No real issues for this guy!  Granted, he still spits up, but it is getting a little better.

Fun Stuff:  Campbell is pretty much a happy baby unless something is bothering him or he's hungry.  He smiles ALL the time, laughs, rolls all over the places, sits without support for a few seconds, talks and talks (I know we're getting closer to saying mama), and LOVES his big brother.  I cannot tell you how my heart wants to burst when I see those two together.  Campbell has really taken quite an interest in Warner and vice versa.  Campbell watches Warner and smiles at him.  Warner hugs and kisses Campbell and tells him the sweetest things such as:
"I Love you, Campbell!"
"Hey Campbell!  I'm back!" (when he gets in the car after preschool)
"Don't cry Campbell.  We're almost there." (if Campbell's crying in the car)
"Campbell!  Don't pull Mommy's hair.  That isn't sweet." (if Campbell is pulling at my hair)

Not Fun Stuff: other than our first ear infection and the restless sleep, nothing!

It is so hard to believe that Campbell is already half a year old!  6 more months and he'll be one!  Ahhhh!!!!
(I guess there is a party that needs to be planned...wink wink)

Friday Fête

Exactly 5 years ago today, I married my best friend.

Is there really any better celebration than a wedding and reception?!

In honor of this week's Friday Fête, I'm sharing a very small snippet of our wedding and reception!  I couldn't think of anything more appropriate! :)

Tie Dye Pumpkin Shirts

If you are looking for something easy and adorable to make for your kiddos (hey, maybe even yourself) for Halloween, this is it!

I used to tie dye t-shirts with my Kindergarten kids, so this wasn't anything new for me.  There are a million different ways to tie dye and a million different products.

I prefer the Rit liquid dye.  Some people hate it.  I really think is depends on what you're trying to achieve.  I simply wanted one large ring on my shirts and the rest of it to be orange.

Follow the directions on the bottle...easy I tell you.
(I did it in my sink and bleached it after, but if you prefer a tub or bucket, I've done it that way as well.)

Once my shirts were dyed, washed, and dried, I used my no fail freezer paper stencils to paint faces with fabric paint.

And there you have it!

These cuties now have an easy, cheap, and most importantly, cute shirt for the Halloween season!
