Warner's "Photo Shoot"

Last weekend we went to have a 3D ultrasound done of Warner. He refused to cooperate and we got 1 whole picture out of the session. Luckily, they rescheduled us for today. Even though our little man prefers to constantly have his hands in front of his face and nestle himself directly into my placenta, we managed to get 26 photos this time!

Here are a few of the ones we got. You have to look super close -- he really is shy and does not want to be photographed apparently!

It will be interesting to see if he looks like these pictures or not when he's born. Apparently he has my nose. My mom said I came out with a smushed nose by the why I was laying, so it looks like Warner might be taking after me in that respect.

We also learned by measurements that he is a BIG boy! Granted there is a 15% error rate with ultrasound, but she said she has been off only by a few ounces. At this rate I'm going to have a good 8+ pound baby!

No wonder my body has been packing on the pounds lately...
Slow down there, Warner!!!

32 Weeks

In honor of entering my 8th month of pregnancy I thought I'd fill out one of those pregnancy questionnaire's I've seen on other people's blogs.

How far along? 32 weeks
Total weight gain/loss? 27 lbs -- gasp -- it's not that cute when you are as short as I am. I'm going to have to work hard to get this off! On the plus side I haven't gained anymore weight since my last appointment 2 weeks ago.
Maternity clothes? Yes and probably will to continue wearing them after he is born! Dave bought be 5 pairs of yoga pants. My school friends will probably see me wearing a different pair each day while rotating out shirts!
Stretch marks? None other than the ones I had prior to pregnancy on my hips. Those have been there for years.
Sleep? Not the greatest. It's hard to get comfortable because I'm a "stomach sleeper" and I have to pee 700 times a night.
Best moment last week? watching the premiere of Teen Mom! HA HA! What can I say? I love my reality TV however I can get it! :)
Movement? Some days I feel a little and other days I feel A LOT!! He definitely seems to react when I drink ice cold water. He also doesn't seen to like it when someone other than me touches my stomach. It's like he knows and will immediately stop kicking. Stubborn maybe?! :)
Food cravings? Not really. I haven't had too many cravings during this pregnancy. Lately I just don't care because it's so HOT!
Gender? boy
Labor signs? None that I know of, but leave me on Google for a few hours and I'll find something... :)
Belly button in/out? In and I'm talking sunken in/shallow! Crazy!
What I miss: my body doing exactly what I want it to when I want it to, being able to walk up the stairs without being out of breath, sleeping on my stomach -- I'm very independent and its hard having people do stuff for me all the time.
What I am looking forward to: Our 4D ultrasound on Friday (take 2) and meeting the pediatricians on Thursday.
Milestones: For me? I guess not gaining any weight in 2 weeks -- lets try to keep that up! Pin It

10 Things Every Mother Should Teach Her Son

Tomorrow marks Week 30. It is hard to believe that in 10 weeks (or less!) our sweet baby boy will be here. I find that my anxiety is increasing with every passing day. Not all bad anxiety either. A lot of it is the good stuff - what color hair will he have, who will he look like, etc.

I ran across this post the other day and thought it was sweet.

Enjoy!

10 Things Every Mother Should Teach Her Son

There's a special bond between mothers and sons. Women raising boys have the power to shape the next generation of men and those to come by teaching their kids important lessons.

1. To express his emotions because bottling them up eventually makes a person explode.

2. To say "ladies first," hold doors open for women, and give his date the jacket off his back when he or she is cold because the world is moving forward in wonderful ways but that doesn't mean chivalry has to die.

3. To put the toilet seat down after he pees, change his sheets frequently, learn to cook, and do laundry.

4. To channel his energy through sports, art, dance, the written word — whatever his passion may be.

5. That even the biggest fight should be settled with the mind rather than fists.

6. That not following the group doesn't make him a loser, but his own leader.

7. To stick up for the underdog even if it makes him an outcast.

8. That he has the power to make an amazing difference in life.

9. To worry less about whether she's proud of him and more about having pride in himself.

10. Smiles are free so be generous with them.

My prayer for Warner is that he grows up to be a respectable, kind, and open-minded man who knows how much he is loved and how proud we are of him no matter what.

Nursery Sneak Peek

So I am far from finished, but thought I'd give you a quick update. Keep in mind - there is no theme. Just bright, happy, and colorful!

The Curtains
Thank heavens they are finally finished. I ended up having to add extra fabric not only to the bottom but to the top as well. I'm so glad it worked out this way. They look so much better having fabric on both ends!

Whole Room Views
I still need to do something about that blue end table in the first picture. I'm thinking I might add some scrapbook paper or something to the top and tone down the blue.

I also need to add a changing pad and cover to the dresser, but we are registered for those so we'll wait on that.

As far as the bedding is concerned I am waiting for my order to come in. It should be here towards the end of July. I am working with a super sweet girl on Etsy. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Oh and I have a rocker coming in one of these days. Actually it came in yesterday but when Dave went to pick it up he said it was scuffed up on the bottom so they are sending it back and I should have a new one next week -- fingers crossed!

Changing "Table"
Instead of a regular changing table I opted to make my own with a regular dresser.

The mirror was once white but after 2 coats of paint became orange.

Luckily I already had the clock. It was in our kitchen. A clearance steal from Crate and Barrel two summers ago.

Like I said earlier we still need a changing pad and cover to complete this area.

The Monogram
I went back and forth on whether or not to put a monogram in his room. However, in the end I needed something for a small space and this worked out perfect!

The Family Tree

Holly definitely inspired this. I had seen it done before, but not in a nursery.

I love it!

The Details

Remember when I said it's all about the details? Well here is what we have so far.

Alphabet Blocks

Ang gave me these blocks a long time ago.

I finally put them to use.

Lucy the Dachshund

I found this (on Etsy, of course!) and had to have it.

I was able to chose which dachshund I wanted based on fabric.

This is Lucy.

I figured Warner needed a little bit of his "big brother" with him!

Hospital Bracelet Shadowbox

I found this idea on one of my all time favorite blogs and had to do it!

It's simply a shadowbox that I added scrapbook paper to.

Once we get Warner home I'm going to put his hospital bracelet in it.

Another view

I haven't quite figured out what to do with the bins, but the bottom right corner will hold Warner's books. I have a TON that were mine when I was young. We might start with that.

The Paintings

Yes, you've seen them before, but you can see them again.

I love them and I love Etsy for having something like this for me to purchase!

And if you are wondering what the nursery rhymes are...

Hey Diddle, Diddle
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Sleep Baby, Sleep
You are my Sunshine

I must say I was sold when I saw the "You are my Sunshine" print.

I always said I would sing that to my child one day...looks like that day has come!

Warner's "Stuff"

Finally a quick shot of the crib that is holding all Warner's stuff for right now.

My mom buys him clothes all the time.

I have got to get some Dreft and start washing and putting his clothes away...

More to come!

Twins

My cousin (Cousin Laura as I affectionately call her) had her twins on May 8th.

We went to visit this past Tuesday.

Baby Birds

These pictures are from the beginning of May, but I had to share them.

We found a nest of baby birds (which we later found out were Carolina Wrens) that was turned over in our backyard.

Dave and I took them to the Carolina Wildlife Rescue Center.

Oddly enough I ran into an old co-worker who now works there when we were dropping them off. They were apparently severely dehydrated and not sure when the last time they had eaten was, but she sent me an email about a month later saying they were doing well!

How cute are they?
