And the Holiday Season Begins!

I love Christmas.
I think this is the way my post starts every year at this time. But it's true. I love it. I love the decorations, the food, the shopping, the smells, the festivities, the spirit. It is truly "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!"

This past Sunday we all headed out to Harmon's Tree Farm to pick out our Christmas trees.

We had all intentions of cutting down our own trees.

We boarded the hay ride

and headed out to find the perfect tree.

By the time it was all said and done the pre-cut trees looked more appealing.

We loaded her up and took her home.

Once we arrived home we decided why not rearrange the furniture too?

Remember the D I was painting in a previous post?
There she is!

The railing with our stockings and my new garland compliments of Crate and Barrel. I am super excited about it! I also decided to use my cinnamon stick holders again from last year. They are super cute and smell so good!

Another shot with the tree skirt

The fireplace.
Check out my funky trees I got for 75% off last year. Got to love a good after-Christmas sale!

The traditional "12 Days of Christmas" ornaments. Again, compliments of C & B!

And there you have it! It's definitely Christmas at our house!

The House Divided

I married a Gamecock.

He married a Tiger.
It makes for a divided household.
One day out of the year we become rivals.
One team always wins and one team always loses.
But at the end of the day
we still love each other!

Congrats to the Gamecocks on their win.
Hopefully the Tigers can bring home the ACC Championship win next weekend.

The Doozies Turn 5!

It's hard to believe that 5 years ago the Doozies made their way into the world. They decided to come much earlier than expected, but when you're ready you're ready, right?! :)

Emma and Jehu decided they wanted to make Handprint Turkey cookies for their birthday. I enjoyed being a part of it!

Happy Happy Birthday, Doozies! Kiki loves you!

My Weekend Crafting

Last year I used a "D" in the middle of the Christmas wreath on my front door. It was super cute, but it wasn't Christmas colors. I decided I would make one for my wreath this year and I figure why not do it today? Yes, we still have a while until it's time for the Christmas decor, but I am getting a head start!

I also fell in love with this idea on another blog and just had to do it. It's called Vacation Jars. You get some mason jars and put little keepsakes in the jars to remind you of your vacation. I loved this and decided to start with our honeymoon to Antigua and our anniversary trip to NYC. In the Antigua jar I put our plane tickets and an Antiguan doll. In the NYC jar I put our plane tickets, one of the show tickets I could find, and a guide from our food tour. I plan to continue these jars for each trip we take together. Each jar will be labeled with the place and year eventually. I didn't have labels at the house!

What a simple and memorable way to decorate!

My Birthday

After many texts, phone calls, facebook messages, 50 cupcakes (don't ask), an eclair dessert, 2 birthday cakes, cards, and some fantastic gifts thrown in, I would say I had a very Happy Birthday! Pin It

Please tell me if you can see my cute fonts still. I had cute font headers and now they are gone. I am hoping you can still see them. But my fear is that you can't! :( Let me know so I can work to put them back on the blog. I'll just have to try to remember how I did it. It took FOREVER! :( Pin It

Here is What I Know

I have been horrible about blogging lately. I just feel like I have nothing important, witty, crafty, or fun to blog about. However, I feel like I'm letting down my 23 followers out there, so here is what I know...

*Stellan is a miracle! God sure is grand. The baby boy who nearly died on the table yesterday in front of his mom is now SVT free! Check out MckMama's blog for the story if you're clueless!

*My birthday is in 3 days! I enjoy a good birthday I tell you! This year is 28. And yes, I realize my birthday is a Friday. And the 13th. People, people don't you know I was actually born on Friday the 13th 28 years ago?! So if you ask me, Friday the 13th is pretty lucky to me.

*Everyone I know is pregnant. I can't believe I'm actually going to say (type) this, but I have baby fever. I think it is definitely because I know of so many people who are pregnant. My cousin, Holly, Jennifer, and 2 girls at school. The fever breaks, right?? I mean I want a bigger house, I want Dave to have a job/be finished with law school, I want to be financially stable, I want to lose 20 lbs, and I want to be a Stay at Home Mom. Like I said, the fever breaks, right??

*Hurricane Ida is annoying me. A little rain here and there is ok, but I am not a fan of downpours. This equals NO RECESS for 20 5 year olds. Do you know how badly 5 year olds need recess??

*I have Chili cooking as we speak for tomorrow night's dinner! MMMMMMMmmmmm...

*Speaking of birthdays, Winston has a birthday this week as well. November 14th. He will be 5. My mom bought him a snuggie. Did I just admit that?

*2 more weeks until Thanksgiving Break -- Hallelujah!!

*I may have an opportunity opening up with the stationary I make. I will blog more about that if it happens!

*Finally, tomorrow is Wednesday. Hump Day. Veteran's Day. Thank a veteran tomorrow. They deserve it!

And that, my friends, is what I know. Pin It

Thanksgiving Decor

Today marks November 1st. Wow, time sure does fly! It also marks the time for me to take down my Halloween decorations. As I was doing so this afternoon I noticed I didn't really have any Thanksgiving decor. So I decided that must be fixed!

I started searching (Better Homes and Gardens) and they had the cutest table runner made out of burlap. So that is what I set out to make on this rainy day.

First I laid out the burlap to see where to cut it. I never use table runners because they are always too long for my table. However, if you make your own you don't have that problem! :)

Next, I cut triangles out at the ends to give it a different look.

Then I hot glued ribbon down the center of the runner.

And followed with a smaller ribbon on top of that.

I laid it out on my table

and decorated with small pumpkins, gords, and walnuts!

The pictures don't really do it justice. It looks much cuter in person and I'm happy with how it turned out!

Then I spruced up a few of my existing decorations.

And there you have it. The Thanksgiving decor is complete!
