Halloween Decor...So Far!

I love Fall. I love everything about it. The cooler weather, the leaves changing, my birthday...
But one of the things I really love about Fall is Halloween!

My fondness for this holiday just recently came to be. I don't know what it is, but I think everything is so fun and I love the oranges, lime greens, blacks, and yellows!

Here are a few of my newest Halloween decorations!

I took a plain ol' grapevine wreath and spray painted it orange (paprika to be exact)!

Next I attached it to my front door with some black and white ribbon and

attached this super cute banner!

I just love the way it turned out!

My next craft came from an idea I saw at a party Holly and I went to last week. One of my kindergartner's mom is starting her own business and had a preview show of some of her items.
I fell in love with a set of "Boo" jars. Someone beat me to the punch in buying them, but after a quick look I realized they would be easy to make.

I bought some jars, spray painted the lids black,

added the letters with glue and glitter,

attached some ribbon, and added the best part...

I don't know about you but I love candy corn. I eat it until I'm sick every year and then don't want it again until the following year!

The final Halloween decor (so far) is my Halloween tree that my mom bought for me last year! I love this tree because I also get to use it at Christmas to hang my 12 Days of Christmas ornaments!

Girls Weekend!

When the boys are away the girls will play! And that we sure did!! :)

The boys planned a few months back to go to Athens for the USC/UGA game. Well, since us girls weren't going to just sit around and do nothing we decided to plan a trip to the spa!!

Holly, Kim, and myself left Friday evening for Charlotte. We arrived at the Embassy Suites, checked in, and then headed out for a late dinner. Charlotte was quite busy that night!

Thank goodness for the Garmin! It came it quite handy! :)

Saturday we got up, ate our complimentary (yummy) breakfast buffet, and headed to the spa! Kim did all the leg work and arranged for us to have massages and facials. We ended up at Shapes Salon and Spa. It was a very nice place and it was SO relaxing. I started with a massage and then experienced my first ever facial. What a treat!

We left the spa around 1, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and went back to the hotel to eat ready for shopping and dinner.

We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping at the fabulous South Park mall! That night we had dinner at Maggiano's. It was very tasty!

We returned to the hotel to watch the rest of the USC/UGA game (being that I'm SUCH a GOOD friend - ha ha).

The next morning we headed back to the breakfast buffet one last time, packed our bags, and headed back to L-town!

What a fun time!! I can't wait to do it again, girls! Pin It

Winston Fought The Blinds and The Blinds WON!

Some of you may have already seen this on my facebook status from yesterday. For those of you who haven't, here is the story.

I had just got in from the grocery store. I was putting up the groceries when Dave walked outside to throw something away. Anyone who reads my blog knows Winston. He is the light of our lives, but something is seriously wrong with him. Just when you think he can't do anything stupider he amazes you. A few years ago it was eating a pack of gum. It resulted in a "hospital stay" and a very hefty vet bill. A few months after that Winston decides to jump out of my car as it is moving because he is just so happy to get to Sue-Sue's house. Not to mention he has eaten a bag of rolos and been knocked in the eye with his blue bone, but that is neither here or nor there.

As I was saying...

I was putting up the groceries. Dave had walked outside. All of a sudden I hear this terrible sound come from Winston. I know there must be something outside that he has seen and wants to kill. You see Winston has this thing about chewing at our blinds. If he sees something outside and wants to get it the blinds take the beating. Like I said, something is seriously wrong with him. The sound I heard was definitely Winston going for the blinds, but there was something different about it. You could definitely tell he meant business. When Dave walked in the door the first thing I said was, "You have got to do something about that dog. He just tried to attack something through the window. It wasn't like his usual trying to attack through the window. This was hardcore." Dave laughed, as he usual does when it comes to Winston's antics, and a few minutes later I here. "Kristy! There is something wrong with him. He is bleeding everywhere!"

Oh sh***!

Dave picks up Winston and brings him in the kitchen. Sure enough there is blood seeping from his mouth. I get a paper towel and hold it underneath him while Dave examines. At first glance it appears that Winston had some glass or something stuck in his gum. Then it dawned on us...the blinds. Winston had a piece of the blinds stuck in his gums. However, that wasn't it either. At further glance we saw the little one's tooth hanging from his gum.

And then I cry.

Is Winston crying in pain? No. Is he acting hurt? No. He is just pawing at his mouth trying to get it out.

I'm still crying. Not over the fact that Winston is hurt, but over that fact that we don't have the money to take him to the vet. We just had to pay to get our air conditioner fixed, we're going to NYC in October, we live on one salary and some student get the picture.

I tell Dave he needs to call the Emergency Vet. He does. The person who answers says to bring him in because if it is not pulled correctly it could result in a lot more problems. GREAT.

Then I remembered that our vet had just opened an Emergency clinic. I found the number and we gave them a call. This time the lady said to go ahead and try to pull it. If it comes out easy and with little force he should be ok. We just have a problem if he refuses to eat of drink.

Dave hangs up and begins the "procedure." I hold Winston (scared to death he is going to bite Dave) and with a small pull and no misbehaving on Winston's end the tooth comes out. Dave inspects the gum and there is nothing left so it was a clean pull.

Since Winston eats later in the evening we decided to give him a treat and see how he would handle eating it. I think I failed to mention that this was his long CANINE tooth that he lost. Well what do you know? In one gulp the treat is gone and Winston returns to the blinds to kill a fly that got in.

He continued to eat, drink, play, and bark as normal last night. Today he continues to do the same. I don't even think Winston realizes his tooth his gone.

As I type this he is perched on the back on the couch, looking out the window, and awaiting his next "kill."

Will he ever learn?

Oh and on a sidenote, Winston was trying to kill the neighbor's cat when he lost his tooth. A big, fat, lazy, purring cat.

9 lives, Winston...9 lives...

And it begins...

I am a single woman.

My husband has left me for someone else.

Someone who makes him very happy at times and very mad at times.

Someone he will drive to another state to see.

Someone he likes to get dressed up for.

Someone who takes him away on Saturdays and Sundays.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen my husband has left me!

Dave went to Carolina. I went to Clemson. We are a house divided. He loves his Gamecocks. I love my Tigers. Together we love the Steelers!

Happy Football Season everyone!!! Pin It
