A Day on the Lake

Yesterday was such a beautiful day!! Mike and Dave had made plans to go out on the boat and do a little fishing. I asked if I could come too, because I like to fish. Kim said she wanted to go also, so we made a day of it!

What a fun day! I can't wait to do it again!

Sorry for being MIA with my blog updates. Things have been busy with school winding down. I can't believe we only have 9 more days! Next year will mark my 6th year of teaching. I cannot believe how fast time flies!

Nothing big going on around here.

We had our school's Spring Fling last night and I tried out selling some of my stationary. It actually sold pretty well. I've been working on getting proofs ready today to send out to my "customers." That sounds funny...

Sophie's swelling continues to go down. I went to see her this week. She is as sweet as ever. They still aren't sure if she can see and if she can to what extent. My dad is taking her to a consultation with a dog opthamologist. I didn't even know they had those. I'll let you know what they say.

My exciting moment of the week was learning how to convert at Word document into a PDF file! How sad is that?? I love technology and creating cutesy things, so this made me very happy! Now I can email things to others and all my cute clip art and fonts will work because it is in PDF. Oh the simple things in life! :)

Hope everyone is doing well. I am working on some fun blog ideas for the summer, but I've got to figure out how to work Mr. Linky first! I'll keep you posted!

Enjoy Memorial Day weekend!!! Pin It

Sophie Update

My called this afternoon and Sophie is home. The doctor doesn't think her jaw is broken, but her face is extremely swollen. My dad said she can barely open her eyes so they can't tell if she has any vision loss or not. She is walking around and is healthy, but Daddy says if I saw her I would cry. However, he has decided to take her home and in his words, "nurse her back to health." I think Sophie is a fighter and will amaze us all. Please continue praying for her recovery.

Dave and I stopped by Daddy's tonight to give Soph a stuffed pig. I wasn't planning on going up to see her, but I did. She really didn't look as bad as I had expected. One said of her face is completely swollen, but the other is good. Her eyes are bloodshot, but she is opening them more and more. The doctor is saying she has vision loss, because she is running in to things when she walks. Of course this could be because of many of things and there is always a possibility she won't (isn't) be (is) blind. Only time will tell. When we walked in she wagged her tail. She senses my Dad like crazy and is SO happy when he is there. She ate all of her dinner, is drinking, and using the bathroom. I really think Sophie is going to surprise us all! It will be a day by day recovery, but I think it will happen in her own time. The vet wants to see her back on Saturday. I will keep posting as I hear more. Thank you for all your continued prayers. Keep them coming! Pin It

Prayer Request

I called my Dad on the way home from school and he told me he had some bad news. Sophie had been hit by a car. They had been out doing some yard work and she went chasing after a trailer attached to a landscaping truck. According to my dad, Sophie stuck her head under the wheel. You can only imagine the picture. Daddy said he got her to the vet in about 10 mins. The rest remains to be unseen. The next 24 hours are crucial. She is improving somewhat and they don't think she has any internal bleeding, but they are afraid her jaw might be broken along with some other things. I am asking all of you who read my blog to pray for sweet Sophie. Pray that she continues to improve throughout the night and the doctor can get a clear picture of what to do. Also, I ask you pray for my Dad. This is his dog. A kindred spirit. I pray that he finds the clarity and strength to make the best decisions when and if necessary. I know some of you may find it silly to pray for an animal, but they become part of the family. I will keep you updated as I hear more (and check on my Twitter Updates on the sidebar). If you want to know a little more about Sophie Girl check out this old post. Pin It

How many of you out there are Sunday night ABC TV fans (i.e. Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters)? I know I am! Thank goodness for my DVR because there are some nights when I can't muster the strength to stay awake -- sad, I know. This would be what happened last night. I got through Desperate Housewives, but fell asleep for Brothers & Sisters. So today when I got home from school I watched last night's episode. Ok, first of all ... WTF. Kitty and Robert separating has been inevitable all season, but man, did he let her have it... "If you want a got it." I'm sorry...Kitty has been a total you know what to Robert. I know, I know, Robert has not been a gem of a husband to Kitty either. But, Ugh ABC! Ugh for letting me have to wait the course of the summer to find out if it's too late for them or not. You should have run a little faster to the helicopter, Kitty.

Second, ok Balthazar Getty -- you had an affair with Sienna Miller, blah, blah, blah. No one likes you anymore...blah blah blah. But time for Tommy to get over his "breakdown" and return home from Mexico. Boring...

There is so much more, but I don't want to bore any of you non B&S watchers out there. However, if you don't watch you really should. It is a great show with a great cast. I've been a fan since Day 1 (as has Dave).

I'm sure next week I'll have plenty of comments on the season finale of Desperate Housewives. Until then...let me know if you have watch Brothers & Sisters and your thoughts on the finale! Pin It

We Go Together!

Friday night was our first annual NPES Idol. It was a chance for our staff to come together and show our hidden "talents." Some people danced, sang, and swam (lol)! We even had a surprise visit from Sonny and Cher! At the end of the night our principal's band closed the show with a live performance. All the money raised went to The American Cancer Society.

The kindergarten and first grade teams spent the past few weeks working on our performance for the show. Our group decided on a "Grease" theme. A few of us spent time working on a dance to "We Go Together."

The Kindergarten and First Grade Teams
Me and Kelley

Our principal and assistant principals as the judges -
Vandy Jackson, Paula Abpoole, and Simon Black

Our turn!

The show (and our perfomance) was a hit! We all had a blast and can't wait for next year!!! Pin It

No TV?

One of my daily blogs I check is When a Duet Becomes a Trio. Lindsay (the author) and I went to elementary school together and high school and our moms even worked together at the local preschool. Anyway, Lindsay is a new mommy and her blog is always fun to read! This week I found her post especially interesting. She has decided to go on a TV hiatus for the week.

What a brave girl! :)

I, on the other hand, don't know if I could do it. I love TV! Dave and I have certain shows that we DVR and watch together and then shows that we watch separately. I always look forward to watching my shows. Since I teach I am pretty exhausted by early evening, so the DVR is my lifeline! And the best part??? Fast forwarding through the commercials!! :) I digress...

The point of this post was to question whether or not I could go without TV for a week. It makes me sad to think that I couldn't. How depressing! Do I really need to lose myself in hours of TV or could I give up that guilty pleasure from time to time?? What about you? Could you do it??

Lots of luck goes out to Lindsay in her TV hiatus. Maybe I'll think about doing that one of these days...maybe... Pin It

A Portion of our Wedding Video

As we all know I LOVED our wedding! I think the part I loved the most was all the fabulous vendors we were fortunate enough to work with!! If anyone ever needs recommendations, just ask!! :)

When Dave and I first got engaged and started planning, I never thought I was one of those people that wanted a wedding video. I thought...who needs it? We'll watch it once a year if that. Then I happened to run across Absolute Video and Productions. I went to their website and was AMAZED! This isn't your run of the mill wedding video -- this is a wedding MOVIE! The minute I saw it, I had to have it!

As luck would have it they were available for our date and better yet...they had a package deal with Clark Berry!! It was meant to be! :)

Last week we received our video. Yes, it took 6 months, but it was well worth it. Check out a segment of our video that Marianna and James posted on their blog! Enjoy!! Pin It
