My mom's friend, Sylvia, hosted a very creative Holiday Shower for me yesterday. Every guest was assigned a different holiday and they were told to bring something to decorate my house with. I have so many creative friends! Thanks everyone! Pin It

Vintage Wedding Fun!

The other night my Mom pulled out her wedding gown for me to look at. I had fun trying it on and posing. I don't know if Mom's dress would be quite considered "vintage", but it was definitely a dress from the 70s! When she had her wedding 32 years ago she had a very "in" rainbow wedding! It was funny to look back at old wedding pictures and laugh. I hope to somehow incorporate a piece of Mom's dress into mine. I'm not quite sure what to do - ideas? suggestions??

**If you have an idea that Dave doesn't need to know about then send it to me in an email! :)

My First Pedicure

Can you believe that I have never had a pedicure? Well, Doris couldn't either and so for my "goodbye" present (we are still in the grieving process) she took me to have my very first one! I met her at her nail place and we had a grand time! I cannot wait to do it again! Thanks, Doris Marie! You are the best!!! Pin It

Sugar Lump Stationary

I was so thrilled to discover this new website as I was playing on facebook one day. The minute I clicked on their page I was in love! I decided to get some notecards made for Dave and I. Thinking about the millions of thank you notes we will have to write come October, I thought these would be cute! All I did was tell them what I wanted everyone to be wearing, sent in a few photos, and voila! I cannot wait to get my notecards! I plan to use Sugar Lump for many more of my stationary needs!!! Check out their website: Sugar Lump Stationary - you won't be sorry you did!! Pin It

A Crafty Sunday!

My dad and I celebrated Father's Day with an early lunch and then I decided to spend my day finally creating some of the crafty things I've been wanting to do!!!

Here is how it all started...
I've been wanting something new above my sliding glass door for awhile now. Since I moved in 4 years ago I've had the same trivets hanging there. Granted, they were nice, but I needed a changed. I bought some cheap frames and decided to paint them...

Then with some scrapbook paper I painted the word "home."
And the final product -- I am very happy with it!
I have been wanting to buy Winston a new bed for awhile now, but I'm never sure what to get him because he chews it up. I saw this very cute one at World market, but it was wicker and I knew that would never last. As I was looking online at some of my favorite "do it yourself" websites, I found this fabulous idea for a dog bed!

First you start with a galvanized tub. I just happened to have 2 laying around in my storage closet!! (gotta love saving a buck)
Then you paint the tub. You can paint it however you want, but I opted to simply use spray paint to make it quick and easy.
After it dried, decorate as you like! I painted Winston's name and some dog "symbols" on mine.

Finally, put some foam to the height you want for your pet then cover a pillow with some cute fabric.
Pretty darn cute if I do say so myself...
Now...
How will Winston like it?? Stay tuned...

Hello World!

It seems like ages since I've updated the blog. Technically it has only been a week, but I feel like so much has gone on! Here's how the summer has started for me...

My friend, Ang's birthday is June 7th. I decided to make her a homeade birthday cake. I searched online until I found the perfect recipe for a homeade pound cake and "wedding cake" icing. I decided this was going to be a professional cake...you know, the kind you see on Ace of Cakes where they cut off the thin top layer of the cakes to make it easier to frost? Hmmm...I think I got a little ahead of myself. I ended up butchering the cake to the point where I had to "glue" the cake back together with icing and hide imperfections with candles, pink polka dots, and sprinkles. I tried, I really did, but obviously I'm not ready to open my own bakery! I will say the taste of everything was a-ok...I just need some work on my presentation! :)

Tuesday afternoon my Dad and I headed up to Cherokee for a night. This has become somewhat of a tradition for us. We did it last summer around this time and we did it again this summer. As usual it was so much fun to gamble, BUT I came back with NOTHING. Oh well...

And we're off!

The lovely mountain billboards!

Harrah's

Before leaving for Cherokee I went to see my doctor. He diagnosed me with a severe sinus infection and rhinitis. He gave me a shot of cortisone and I left with a some nasal spray samples and the name of a sinus irrigation system he wanted me to use. Now, I don't know how many of you have used the Netti pot. Dave uses it all the time, but it has always scared me. I just think it is so weird that you put something up one nostril and it drains out the other. Anyway, I decided to give my doctor's advice a try. He told me to get a Neil Med Sinus Rinse. The only difference between this and the pot is that you squeeze the solution up your nose from a bottle. As of tonight I have rinsed my sinuses one time...let's just say the jury is still out on how I feel about this...

Finally, it seems whenever summer roles around I am always wanting to try some new home improvement projects and crafts. Some of you may remember that I had pictures hanging on a piece of wrought iron wall art. Well, I decided that I was tired of that...imagine that...me getting tired of something all too soon!!! Anyway, I made a new picture hanger with a cheap placemat from Target. I am happy with my new look...for now! :)

Whew! I'll try not to wait so long to post next time!!

Letters to Catherine

My sweet friend, Katie is expecting a little girl named Catherine at the beginning of September. Katie found out in April that Catherine has a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. They are giving her a 25% survival rate. As we all know God can heal and God can take. Whatever He has in store for Katie and Catherine is yet to be known, but she is taking the brave step to share her journey with us. Katie is writing letters to Catherine and decided to share them with everyone. If you are interested in her story please visit her blog: Letters to Catherine. I have also added her to my links on my blog.

I love you, My Margaret Kay! You are an inspiration to me!

Sending lots of prayers, happy thoughts, hugs, and kisses to you, Miss Catherine Marie, and Donnie! :)

Love,
Kristy Pin It
